As an adjunct professor in the unfrozen southland of LA, I resemble these remarks.

I can’t believe twenty years have gone by. I distinctly remember in 2001 thinking I will do this for one semester until my writing begins to pay again.

I had supported myself for a few years writing screenplays and the money they offered me to be an adjunct was laughable.

But here I am twenty years later and I’ve had full family benefits and now a retirement pension I will be able to draw on so it wasn’t so bad.

Plus, I have been teaching from bed for the last five weeks, which is kind of awesome but a bit disturbing in another way. Some of my students are also tuning in from their beds. (I tell them to please turn their cameras off)

Anyhow, you have a full 155 claps or so for this piece which is quite extraordinary. What are you going to do with all the money?

My piece on psychotic husbands just cracked a hundred — this is something a humor piece didn’t used to be capable of doing! Kudos to Alex and the Slackjaw gang for cultivating an appreciative crowd.

Oh, and I meant to say, you are funny. If you want to publish something but don’t feel like waiting for two weeks please submit to my publication Down in the Dingle, I will add you as a writer if you permit.
