How To Choose the Right Tag For Your Complimentary Response to a Writer’s Story

Medium still has you “publish” your response as a story, because that’s what some computer programmer decided needed to happen way back when. That’s why your “stories” list is cluttered with the hundreds of other comments you have left for other writers. Like, “Good one!” and “Very funny.”

Just to be clear, “Good one,” is not a story.

But in publishing this “story” you also had to choose tags. It usually defaults to the same tags as the original story to which you are responding. But I don’t think that you should use those. You should use the appropriate tag for your comment. Here are some suggestions:

Love
Supportive Praise
Sycophantism
Stalky worshiping
Phony smarm in hopes of future claps
BS

Or why not just use the thesaurus:

Compliment: flattering remark, tribute, accolade, commendation, bouquet, pat on the back, encomium; praise, acclaim, acclamation, plaudits, admiration, approbation, homage, eulogy; flattery, blandishments, blarney, honeyed words; rare laudation, eulogium

Of course, you’re only allowed five. But I like “honeyed words.” The honeyer the better.

Keep em coming, friends!
