I’ve watched it go down in real time. I follow a person here on Medium. I liked something they wrote, or I saw they liked something written by somebody I like, and I figure they might like me.
So a few minutes later, they follow me back. Yay. A few more minutes: they clap for one of my stories. Yay! Then they go on the feeding frenzy. They can’t believe how much they like my stuff. They clap for another of my stories. Then another. Within fifteen minutes they’ve read and clapped for thirty stories of mine.
I love them!
Then I never see or hear from them again.
